I asked 5 employes at bike shops for their feedback, who cycle passionate and frequent
I observed my friend using my prototypes while cycling and asked her for feedback
I tested it myself in action
I did an online survey with over 80 people attending (see below)
It was interesting to see, how people react life, when they see photos of the prototypes. They first attention went to the bag, as it has a huge surface for reflection.
Secondly they liked the wings of the backpack, mainly as they were different to what they would expect. Giving them a bit more time, almost everyone prefers the hoodie, as it fits the best in every day life and they liked the design. One comment, I liked was: ”you might consider having the upper part of the hoodie rain proof as well, in that way it doubles up in protection”
Most people, who cycle, don't like to carry a backpack, as it limits action. The biggest concern about the bag was, that it gets uncomfortable, when it shifts around while biking. Some people suggested a different style for the bag. I discussed the option of a courier bag style with 3 people, who are using one for cycling and they like that style. But it doesn't fit to well in every day life.
Another comment about the bag and backpack was, that it is nonfunctional with a child seat in the back.
I got really good feedback about the wings (as an accessory, without he backpack) from people, who cycle with children. For visibility, extension of the body (force cars to keep a gap) and for the fun factor. Some came up with the idea of having fly, ferry or bat wings.
I got positive feedback from other people, too. But they mentioned, they wouldn't buy them, as they are to outstanding.
A few people mentioned, the apron could integrate into the hoodie.
One person (who cycles a lot) said, he doesn't like reflective material and the impression of safety in traffic in general. He said cycling on the streets is dangerous and people should be aware of it. I quite liked that statement.
Observation:
In general, reflective material works much better, that just neon, specially in the dark.
A few people mentioned, that they like wearing dark colors, and it is great to have hidden reflection in a jacket or hoodie. From all answers, I got, in general the hoodie seems to fit the best in every day life.
I still like the idea of the wings and I got some good feedback from other parents, who cycle with children. I still consider a second prototype ...

- Flip-Flag Bag: Great reflection surface and excellent recognition. The visibility improves at day and night time.
- Butterfly Backpack: The wings give a great surface for visibility, but hey don't fly and just hang down, covering the apron. As the wings are just neon and not reflective, they work better for daytime.
- Hoodie: Through leaning forward on the bike, the surface seen from behind is not as big as it is in real. The reflection still works very well. But while driving, the eye-line is below the hight of the hood and the refection part is not in focus.
